3. How to read the research we cite

We maintain a searchable database of published studies on molecular hydrogen and related topics, and we reference peer-reviewed literature throughout the site. We do this so that readers can go to the source rather than take our word for it. Two things should be kept in mind when reading it.

• Much of the published literature consists of laboratory and animal work. Human clinical trials are a smaller share of the total, and many of them involve small numbers of participants over short periods.
• A study reporting an effect is not the same as an established, regulator-approved benefit. Where we describe findings, we are describing what a study reported — not making a claim about what our products will do for you.

Citing a study does not mean its authors endorse BioNatural, our products or this website.

4. Product specifications and performance

Published figures — including dissolved hydrogen concentration, oxidation-reduction potential, pH range, flow rate and filter life — are measured under controlled laboratory conditions using defined source water. Real-world results vary with source water composition and mineral content, water temperature, flow rate, filter age, altitude, container type and how the device is operated. Figures should therefore be treated as reference values obtained under test conditions, not as a guarantee of the output at your tap.

Specifications published on our product pages, along with materials and appearance, may change without notice as products are improved. Where a specific figure matters to a purchasing decision, please request written confirmation for the exact model and production batch concerned.

5. Product classification differs from market to market

There is no single worldwide classification for the products we make. The same appliance may be a regulated medical device in one country and an ordinary household appliance in another. This matters, because what may lawfully be said about a product follows its classification in that market.

Korea

In the Republic of Korea, alkaline water ionizers are classified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as medical devices for home use. The approved purpose is defined narrowly: producing alkaline ionised drinking water within a specified pH range, to help with mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as chronic diarrhoea, indigestion, excess stomach acid and abnormal fermentation in the gut. Korean regulation also sets guidance on the pH range and daily volume that should be consumed, and it prohibits advertising beyond the approved purpose — including general wellness claims and claims about conditions such as diabetes. Approvals are administered and searchable through the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety medical device system.

Japan

In Japan, alkaline ion water generators are certified medical devices under the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act. Their stated purpose is likewise the generation of alkaline electrolysed drinking water for the improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms in household use. Effects on other conditions are not recognised within that certification. The Association of Alkaline Ionized Water Apparatus publishes the Japanese position, including its guidance on marketing and advertising, in English.

Other markets

In the United States, the European Union and most other markets we supply, no equivalent medical approval exists for these products. There they are household water treatment appliances, and we make no medical claim for them. Nothing on this website should be read as asserting that a product carries medical approval in a market where it does not.

Hydrogen water products

Our hydrogen water generators, portable bottles and caps are not covered by the Korean or Japanese approvals described above. They are household appliances in every market, and the research discussed on this site in relation to molecular hydrogen is presented as research, not as an approved indication.

Responsibility of distributors

Rules on registration, labelling, electrical safety, import approval and permitted advertising differ from one market to another. Distributors, resellers and importers are responsible for confirming and meeting the requirements of their own market, including any restriction on health-related claims. Marketing material we supply is a starting point and must be reviewed locally before use. We are glad to support that process with documentation on request.

6. Certifications

Where certifications are referenced on this site, they apply to specific products, specific scopes and specific certification periods — not to every product we make or to every claim on this website. Certification confirms conformity with the standard concerned; it is not an endorsement of health outcomes. Current certificates for a given model are available to business partners on request.
